In May, project partner HdM visited the construction research site of Technische Universität Dresden and investigated machine operation procedures of modern excavators. Enviromental monitoring, tool handling, and utilization of state-of-the-art 3D machine controls have been the focus of our observation as the involved information complexity could benefit of XR interaction for machine operation. This analysis effort again is part of our joint development method. Retrieving information and interaction requirements in real situations will inform case-based XR interaction concepts calibrating information complexity and modality for increased operation performance in the next steps of THEIAXR.
